As winter nears, the number of people who become ill with seasonal colds and flus will increase dramatically! These pesky illnesses are easily spread through the workplace where employees work in close quarters. The best way to do this is to educate your workers about cold and flu prevention! Here are a few tips that are sure to keep you and your employees far away from the cold medicine isle:
- When washing your hands, make sure to spend at least 15 to 20 minutes lathering with antibacterial soap.
- Place numerous hand sanitizer bottles around the office, and encourage employees to use them as often as possible.
- Avoid touching your face as much as possible.
- Wipe down all doorknobs, cabinet handles, drawer handles, or any other surface that is touched by numerous people throughout the day.
- When you finish washing your hands, be sure to turn the faucet off while using a paper towel as a barrier.
- If you carry a reusable water bottle to work, make sure to wash it daily.
- If you know that someone has been infected with the cold or flu, avoid contact with him or her as much as possible.
- Increase your fluid intake. This will help to keep your immune system strong.
- Continue practicing a regular exercise regimen.
- Eat a well-balanced diet.
- Aim to get at least 8 hours of sleep each night.
- Do your best to de-stress. The more stressed you are, the weaker your immune system.
- If you are a tea drinker, increase your green or ginger tea consumption!
